Gerald ‘Jerry’ L. Skogland

BAXTER — Gerald “Jerry” L. Skogland, age 80, of Baxter, passed away Jan. 31, 2013, in Brainerd. He was born on May 23, 1932, to Leonard and Fay (Bohanon) Skogland in Minneapolis. After a six-day courtship, he married his wife of 52 years, Nyla Johnson, on April 8, 1960, in Mason City, Iowa.
He is survived by: his wife; daughters, Cindy Hewitt, Brainerd, and Sherri (Dave) Goedker, Guatemala; brother, Leonard (Inga) Skogland; sister, Carol (Roy) Halverson; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents; uncle, Francis Murphy; a grandson; and many aunts and uncles.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5, at First Baptist Church, 7623 Fairview Road, Baxter.
Interment will be held at Rosy Cemetery, Dixon Lake, at a later date. Arrangements are with Kline Funeral Home, Pequot Lakes.
