BAXTER — Clarence L. Warner, age 89, of Baxter, died on Jan. 30, 2013, at Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd, surrounded by his family.

Clarence was born on June 16, 1923, at Jump River, Wis., to Lawrence and Edith (Bosteder) Warner. He moved to the Brainerd area in 1931 and attended Brainerd schools.

In 1943, he entered the Armed Forces and served in Europe as a tank operator and MP. Upon his honorable discharge, he became a member of Brainerd National Guard 194th Tank Battalion.

In 1942, he began working for the NP Railroad as a car-man and continued on with the Burlington Northern until his retirement in 1982.

He was united in marriage to Shirley Nelson at the Presbyterian Church in Crosby on April 18, 1952. He was a life member of VFW Post 1647 of Brainerd, a member of NARVE Railroad Association and AARP. He was also a member of the Palamino Quarter Horse Association and was very active in the Brainerd Saddle Club.

Clarence is survived by wife, Shirley; daughters, Linda (David) Bosch, of Brainerd, Renee Warner, of Billings, Mont., Brenda (Tony) Thibodo, of Pine River; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Vernon, of Brainerd; sisters, Alica Forner and Grace Peck, both of Brainerd; daughter-in-law, Dianna Warner.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Kim; brothers, Andy, Ray; sister, Maude DeChaine.

Funeral service on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Brainerd. ­­­­­­­­­

Visitation on Feb. 3, 2013, from 2-4 p.m. at Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at church.
