Jay Ecklund

EMILY — Jay Arden Ecklund, age 57, of Emily, died on Jan. 27, 2013, at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud. He was born on Jan. 5, 1956, in Aitkin to Marvin and Twila (Klingelhofer) Ecklund.

Jay was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran. He is a retired captain with the Minnesota National Guard, 136 Infantry Unit.

He is survived by his father, Marvin Ecklund, of Aitkin; one son, Jes Ecklund, of Cuyuna; one daughter, Lindsay (Chad) Nichols, of Cuyuna; two brothers, Guy (Tawny Bruar) Ecklund, of Aitkin, Matt

(Tanya) Ecklund, of Elk River; seven sisters, Barbe (Bruce) Hite, of Emily, Marva Lasher, of Nisswa, Cindy Ecklund, of Seward, Alaska, Kristi Ecklund, of St. Cloud, Lois Ecklund, of Glendale, Ariz., Lori (Dan) Moore, of Thornton, Colo., and Shelli (Mike) Graham, of Sauk Rapids; and five grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his mother and one brother, Kole Ecklund.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Camp Ripley Chapel in Little Falls. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. Friends may call one hour prior to the services on Monday at the chapel. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
