Jean Sherman Lawton

BAXTER — Jean Sherman Lawton, 78, of Baxter, died on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minn. A funeral service for Jean will be held on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, Minn., with visitation one hour prior to services. A luncheon will follow at the Nisswa American Legion Club in Nisswa, Minn. Interment will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, Minn.

Jean was born on July 21, 1934, in Texas to Myrtle Schuster. She married James Lawton in Woodside, Calif., on Aug. 14, 1982. She was a member of the Nisswa Red Hats and Women’s Club.

She was preceded in death by her cousin, Mel Hoelscher; grandparents, Casper and Rosita Schuster; and mother, Myrtle Schuster. Jean is survived by her husband, James; children, Susan Carter, Charles Carter, Delbert Carter, Cynthia Carter, Shelly Sherman and Edward Sherman; 21 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to American Heart Association. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services.
