A. Boyd Elliott, age 83, of Brainerd, died on Jan. 21, 2013.
Boyd was born on Aug. 8, 1929, to Edward and Evelyn (Lockard) Elliott in Luverne, Minn. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. Boyd married the love of his life, Arleen Polson on Oct. 31, 1959. The marriage was blessed with two daughters.
Boyd enjoyed wine making, bowling, wood carving, gardening and going on mystery trips with his wife. He was a life member of the American Legion, VFW and a longtime member of the Moose Lodge. Boyd was a member of First Lutheran Church for 46 years.
He is survived by wife of 53 years, Arleen; daughters, Jonette (Tom) Tschida, of St. Cloud, Arliss (Terry) Opatz; grandchildren, Jon (Samantha Lyness) Tschida, Kelcie Tschida, Kevin Opatz and Lindsay Opatz: niece, Menzie (Bill) Aikman; nephew, Elliott, (Vicki) Dewar.
Boyd was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Roxie Dewar.
A memorial service will be on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd with visitation one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
Interment will be at the Minnesota State Veteran Cemetery.
