David Theodore Engen, age 44, of Brainerd, died on Dec. 27, 2012, at his home in rural Brainerd. He was born in St. Paul on Jan. 6, 1968, to Vicky Engen and Greg Tomberlin. He married Nelia Cabanela on Dec. 10, 2005. David loved motorcycles, growing giant pumpkins, fishing and hunting. He is member of the Freemen MC. He deeply loved his family and friends. He is an ironworker (Local 512) for 20-plus years. He is survived by his wife and love of his life, Nelia; son, Derek Engen, of North Mankato; his father, Greg Tomberlin and stepmother, Sherry, of Brainerd; sister, Melinda “Lindy” Engen Berosik; and nephew, Cory Berosik, of Oakdale; sister, Tracy Tomberlin Ramirez (Roberto); and nephew, Joey, of St. Paul; uncle and aunt, Ted and Julie Engen, of Linwood Township; great-uncle and great-aunt, Ron and Sue Kowal, of Brainerd; and many cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Vicky Engen Hilsen; stepfather, Keith Hilsen. Celebration of life will be from noon until 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at the home of Greg and Sherry Tomberlin, 4035 State Highway 25, Brainerd, MN 56401.
