NEW PRAGUE — Matthew R. Shetka, age 54, of New Prague, died Dec. 9, 2012, suddenly while shoveling snow. Matt was born Oct. 8, 1958, in St. Paul to Ron and JoAnn (Anderson) Shetka. He graduated from Bemidji State University and earned his MA from Minnesota State University Mankato. Matt taught social studies at New Prague Middle School, coached varsity gymnastics and golf, middle school volleyball and softball, and youth baseball. He worked at the New Prague Golf Club and was a member of the New Prague Education Association. He was in the Minnesota State High School Hall of Fame and was chosen as the State Coach of the Year in Gymnastics on two occasions. Matt was a proud father of four, a loving husband, and loved to play golf, hunt and read. He is survived by wife, Meg; sons, Dan and Geri Nelson, Andy (and Robin), Aaron and Danielle Busch, Zack; father, Ron Shetka; sisters, Jodi (and Lanny) Spencer, Julie Griffith; brother, Mike (and Katie) Shetka; mother-in-law, Janet Boehlke. He was preceded in death by mother, JoAnn Shetka; stepmother, Annette Shetka; brother-in-law, Marty Griffith; father-in-law, Willis Boehlke. Visitation will be Friday 4-8 p.m. at Bruzek Funeral Home, New Prague. Funeral service Saturday, 10 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Church, New Prague.
