Warren H. Jones, 85-year-old resident of Brainerd, Minn., formerly of Little Falls, Minn., passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at Good Samaritan Home in Brainerd. Funeral services for Warren H. Jones will held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls with the Rev. Nate Bjorge officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls. Friends may call at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls Monday from 9 a.m. until the service. Military rites will be with the Brainerd American Legion Post No. 255.
Warren was born July 22, 1927, in Little Falls, Minn., to the late Harry and Amelia (Delacas) Jones. He grew up in Little Falls and graduated in 1945 from Little Falls High School. Warren entered the U.S. Navy in June 1945 and served until his honorable discharge in August 1946. Upon his discharge, he attended the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1950 with a civil engineer degree. Warren was employed be the State of Minnesota Highway Department (MnDOT) from 1950-1978. He was united in marriage to Marilyn J. Swanson on March 17, 1957, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls, Minn., then made their home in Brainerd. In 1958, Warren was transferred to the metro area, living in Richfield for four years and then returning to Brainerd in 1962. In 1978, Warren began a second career as a self-employed civil engineer consultant until retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Brainerd American Legion, Brainerd Masonic Lodge and Aurora Lodge No. 100.
Warren enjoyed traveling with his family, carpentry, welding and working with metal.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Marilyn; sons, Stephen W. (Frances) Jones, of West Covina, Calif., Bryan R. (Susan) Jone, of Appleton, Wis., and Gordon M. (Anne) Jones, of Faribault, Minn.; six grandchildren; and a sister, Harriet C. Jones, of Maple Grove, Minn.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Amelia Jones.
