K. “Wayne” Johnson, of Brainerd, passed away at Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center on Nov. 29, 2012, just shy of his 102nd birthday. He was born on Dec. 22, 1910, in Fort Ripley, Minn., to Charles and Mabel (Cook) Johnson. Wayne is a veteran of the U.S. Army where he was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
Wayne is preceded in death by wives, Anna Mae and Evelyn.
He will be deeply missed by his children, Melanie Haller, of Moline, Ill., Curtis Johnson, of Brainerd; stepchildren, Doug (Mary) Herman and Bruce Herman; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd. Visitation on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the service at church.
Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd.
