Charles ‘Charlie’ D. Canon

Charles “Charlie” D. Canon, 33, of Brainerd, died on Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby, Minn., after a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Services for Charlie will be held on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at 5 p.m. at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, Minn., with Jon Ring officiating. Visitation is from 3-5 p.m. at the chapel before the services.

Charles was born on Oct. 18, 1979, in Grand Junction, Colo., to Roger and Kim (Salfisberg) Canon. He was raised in Amarillo, Texas. Charlie worked in heavy building construction until he was diagnosed with ALS. Charlie moved to Brainerd to be near his family. He enjoyed organic gardening, hunting, and fishing. Charlie also loved trapping and snowshoeing. Charlie’s greatest love was being an uncle.

Charlie is survived by his mother, Kim Canon Nylund; sister, Jennie Marie Yant; brothers, Sam (Sara) Canon and John Canon; maternal grandmother, Jane Salfisberg; nieces and nephews, Kizzie, Wyatt, Maddox and Aiden Canon; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Roger; grandfather, Allen Salfisberg. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, Minn.
