Mary Ann Helley

Mary Ann Helley, 94, resident of Upper South Long Lake, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at her home. Mary Ann was born March 1, 1918, in East Grand Forks to L.B. and Ethel (Montgomery) Hiler. Mary Ann was a co-owner of Plaza Furniture in Brainerd. She enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, the lake, pontoon rides. She loved fishing in Canada and shore lunches. Mary Ann started the family Christmas baking tradition which has lasted 40 plus years, cookies, cookies, cookies. She loved spending time with family, especially with the grandbabies and great-grandbabies.

Survivors include two daughters, Merrily (Donald) Monda, Carolyn (Terry) Fiero; grandchildren, Steve (Erin) Monda, Anne (Jim) Archibald, Jeanne (Jason) Schulz, Lynn Fiero, Sue (Brad) Newton and Richard Fiero; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Michael Monda, Robin, Jordan, Ali and Josh Archibald, Jennifer, Jalen and Jessica Schulz, Brooklyn and Caylin Sadler, Sam and Will Newton; great-great-grandchild, Ella McCommas.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband, H.A. Helley; son, Richard; three sisters; and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd with the Rev. David Holte officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
