BAXTER — Richard “Dick” Donald Harvey, 86, of Baxter, Minn., died at VA Hospital in St. Cloud, Minn., on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, after battling Parkinson’s for about eight years. Services for Dick will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, 2 p.m. at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter with Pastor Lilja Behr officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at 1 p.m. Luncheon to follow services at the Brenny Funeral Chapel Reception Room.
Richard was born on April 1, 1926, in Minneapolis to Charles and Berniece (Robinson) Harvey. After graduating from Robbinsdale School, “Dick” joined the Navy for 3 and a half years. He enjoyed camping, bowling, and being a clown for 14 years with the Zierah Funsters in Minneapolis.
After retiring from his job at the Robbinsdale School District No. 281 for 35 years, Dick and Jane spent 22 years in Phoenix, Ariz., for the winters and summers at their cabin in Breezy Point.
Dick will be missed by his wife of 66 years, Jane; two sons, Robert and Greg and their wives, Kathleen and Kathy Harvey, of Eagan, and Ramsey, Minn.; five grandchildren, Amy Hanson, Chad Hanson of Phoenix, Ariz., Justin Harvey, of Moorhead, Minn., Michelle Harvey and Lauren Harvey, of Eagan, Minn.; one great-granddaughter, Megan Hanson, of Phoenix, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Berniece Harvey; daughter, Cynthia Jane Hanson-Barrett; and one granddaughter, Ann Elizabeth Hanson. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter.
