Rose E. Zacher, age 89, of Brainerd, and formerly of Sawyer, passed away Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, in Brainerd. She was born Aug. 27, 1923, in Cromwell to Thomas and Hazel (Schmitt) Balsness. Rose owned and operated Bob and Rose’s Bar in Sawyer for many years. She especially loved to walk and going on bike rides.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Zacher; three brothers, George, Floyd and Bennett “Bud” Balsness; and three sisters, Lila Lundstrom, Dorothy Chernich and Betty Rostveit. She is survived by two children, Robert “Skip” (Cindy) Zacher, of Baxter, Minn., and Cheryl Zacher, of Colorado; three grandchildren, Jeni Schwegman, Leah Zacher and Joel Zacher; four great-grandchildren, Taylor Zacher, Ty Schwegman, Lauren Zacher and Logan Zacher; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet, followed with a meal in the fellowship room. Inurnment service will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Sawyer Cemetery. The family has selected Nelson Funeral Care of Cloquet to assist them with arrangements.
