A visitation will be held 3-5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids, for Gerald “Jerry” Koster, age 64, who passed away suddenly on Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at his home. A celebration of life will continue at Jack & Jim’s in Duelm following the visitation.
Jerry was born June 11, 1948, in Pequot Lakes to Herbert and Dorothy (Wolfram) Koster. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Jerry married Peggy Leitold on March 16, 1991, in Sauk Rapids. He worked his entire career as a steam engineer, most recently at the Minnesota State Correctional Facility in St. Cloud, retiring in 2002. Jerry enjoyed drag racing, was passionate about building high performance motors, and his greatest joy was the hours spent at the drag strip with his race buddies.
Survivors include his wife, Peg, of St. Cloud; son and daughter, Kirby (Patricia) Koster, of Lino Lakes, and Kimberly (Rosta) Hruby, of Warroad; mother, Dorothy Koster, of Cohasset; sister, Garnet (Ken) Strom, of Cohasset; brother, Gary Koster, of Cohasset; grandchildren, Kelsey, Hailey, Tereza, Luk, David and Lucia; and members of the Leitold family. He was preceded in death by his father; and brother, Bert Koster.
