Lloyd G. Kummet, 87, of Brainerd, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at his home. Lloyd was born Jan. 8, 1925, in Pierz to Bernard and Christine (Thielen) Kummet. He was a graduate of Little Falls High School and St. Cloud Business School. In 1951, he and Eino Freeman started the accounting firm which is today known as Kummet, Larson, Bluth and Co.
In 1950, he married Rita Hollenhorst and raised four children in the Brainerd lakes area. He served as a trustee and founding member of St. Andrew’s Church, served on the St. Francis School Foundation and was active in the Elks and Knights of Columbus. He loved traveling, music and dance, fishing and spending time at the lake with family and friends.
He is survived by son Rick (Deb) Kummet, of Brainerd; daughters, Beth (Rick) Fahlstedt, of Centennial, Colo., and Jan (Jason) Splitt, of Minneapolis; daughter-in-law, Pat (Dennis) Kummet, of Minneapolis; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and special friend, Lorraine Bemis, of Brainerd.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Rita; son, Dennis; and brother, Eldred Kummet.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Brainerd. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Sunday with parish prayers at 7 p.m. at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd and at church Monday the hour before services.
Memorials are preferred to St. Francis School Foundation or the charity of the family’s choosing.
