Gordon Reabe, 84, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died July 31, 2012, in Brainerd, Minn. He is survived by his wife, Ruth of 61 years; his daughters, Robin Reabe, of Brainerd, Rachel Reabe Nystrom (Bob), of Baxter, Roxane Reabe, of Brainerd; and son, Gordon Reabe Jr. (Linda), of Kansas City, Mo.; and grandchildren, Tom and Rebecca Dornan, Thor, Quinn and Will Nystrom, Katelyn Shannon, Eric and Spencer Reabe.
Gordon and Ruth raised their family in Kansas City where he ran an insurance agency before retiring to Burntside Lake outside Ely, Minn. He was born on Nov. 12, 1927, on a Mayville, Wis., farm, the youngest of seven children. He was a captain in the United States Army serving in Okinawa at the end of WWII.
Gordon graduated from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, and married the love of his life, Ruth Ristow of Chicago. His life revolved around his family and his passion for sailing. He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 4, at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Ely, Minn.
