Rose Marie Vierzba, age 94, resident of Brainerd, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society-Woodland. Rose was born on Nov. 19, 1917, to John and Bertha (Lang) Schley in Crow Wing County. She married George J. Vierzba on Oct. 19, 1940, in Brainerd.
Rose was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, St. Francis Guild-Joan of Ark Group, American Legion Auxiliary, National Catholic Society of Foresters, Daughters of Isabella, and Degree of Honor. She volunteered at the Senior Center, Church, Brainerd Garden Club, Legionville and RSVP.
She is survived by her sons, Edmund A. (Caroline) Vierzba, Douglas J. (Marsha) Vierzba, Marvin G. Vierzba; daughters, Sister Barbara Ann, Joanne M. (Lloyd) Shun; Michael’s wife, Donette Vierzba; sister, Arlene Smude; brother, John (Bernice) Schley; 22 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George Vierzba; her parents, John and Bertha; her son, Michael Vierzba; and sisters, Margaret Anderson, Lucille Fisher, Eleanore Roscoe and Frances Lyman.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, June 15, 2012, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd with Father Keith Bertram officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Brainerd. Visitation will begin the hour before services at the church.
