De Van Nels Henry Wilson, age 81, of Brainerd, died April 27, 2012, at Cuyuna Regional Care Center. De Van was born Nov. 15, 1930, in Minneapolis, to Henry & Florence (Nyberg) Wilson.
Both preceded him in death, along with two brothers, Dennis and Roger, sister Ilo Hogan, and his wife Luella.
De Van was enlisted in the U.S. Army. He married Luella Katherine Weaver on Jan. 24, 1954, in Minneapolis. De Van and Luella had seven children. De Van was employed in landscape maintenance with the Crow Wing Highway Department. He liked to hunt, fish, and garden. De Van was a Scout Master for Troop 75 Salvation Army, and enjoyed model railroads.
De Van is survived by his children: DeAnn (Monte) Caddy of Ironton, Katherine (Tony) Rono of Crosby, Lynnea (Art) Petersen of Inver Grove Heights, Melode O’Day of Arizona, Aurora (Jim) Burgstaler of Brainerd, and November (James) Black of Kansas; 17 grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 3, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 2, 2012, from 4-7 p.m. at Halvorson Johnson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service, Thursday, at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd. A lunch will follow the internment at the Salvation Army Community Room.
