Wallace ‘Wally’ J. Disrud

PHOENIX — Wally Disrud, age 84, died March 18, 2012, of a sudden illness. He was born in Cyrus, Minn., Aug. 16, 1927, to George and Caroline (Hogy) Disrud. He served in the Army during the Korean conflict and returned to farming in the Brainerd area, then moved to Arizona in the early 60s. He became a respected breeder and trainer of championship quarter horses one of which placed in the top 10 twice at the world showing.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey; son, Ronald; daughter, Pamela Sitzer; two grandchildren; sisters, Avis Bisson, Phoenix, Deloris (Don) Lange, Baxter, Bernice (Jim) Finch, Baxter, and Beverly (Cal) White, Merrifield; four stepchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold; and infant sister. Graveside services were held March 28, 2012, at the National Memorial Cemetery, Cave Creek, Ariz.
