CROSBY — Robert James “Bob” Chapman, age 96, of Crosby, formerly of Outing, died on March 27, 2012, at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby. He was born on Sept. 9, 1915, in Morton, Minn., to William and Blanche (Ridley) Chapman. Bob married Laurene Alice Swenson on June 16, 1939, in Fairfax, Minn. He was a WWII Army Air Corps veteran. He was a contractor/builder in Richfield and the Outing area. He was a member of the Emily United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and the Shriners.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Laurene; three sons, Richard (Shelley) Chapman, of Las Vegas, Paul (Barbara) Chapman, of Mason, Mich., and Thomas (Mary) Chapman, of Brooklyn Center; two daughters, Judith (Daniel) Klement, of Remer, and Margaret (Robert) Peterson, of Algonquin, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Preceding him in death are his parents; and one brother, Bill Chapman.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 30, 2012, at the Emily United Methodist Church with military honors given by the Myrin-James American Legion Post No. 443 of Ironton. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby. Friends may call on Thursday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Masonic service at 6:30 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. If so desired memorials may be given to the Emily United Methodist Church or the donor’s choice.
