ALEXANDRIA — Elsie Emma (Ernst) Bull, age 85, resident of Alexandria, formerly of Brainerd, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at the Ecumen Bethany in Alexandria. Elsie as born on Nov. 3, 1926, in Murdock, Minn., to Fritz and Elsie (Grothe) Knochenmus.
Elsie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She worked most of her life while raising her family. She was a head clerk at Red Owl for many years, then became a business woman running Bill’s Southside Motel. Elsie loved socializing with friends and family. She was a great dancer, card player, cook and seamstress. She instilled her love for life in her children. She will be missed dearly by all that were blessed to know her. She is at peace with a cigarette in one hand and a hi-ball in the other.
She is survived by her children, Terry Ernst (Nancy), Jim Hunt, Tom Bull (Sue), Dolly Kobreek, Barb Bull, Patrick Bull (Loretta); her sisters, Esther Berger and Ethel Peterson (Charlie); 23 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Elsie is preceded in death by Tommy Ernst, Jerry Ernst, Bob Bull, Chuck Bull, Edith Johnson, Betty Rand, Fritz Knochenmus and Walter Knochenmus.
Funeral Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012, at the Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd with Deacon Mike Koecheler officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd. Following burial a luncheon will be held at Nelson-Doran.
