Minerva Kay

Minerva Marie Kay, age 97 of Pine River, formerly of Backus, passed away on Feb. 19, 2012 at the Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Center in Pine River.
Minerva Butrom was born Sep. 28, 1914 at Fort Ripley, Minn., the daughter of John and Etta (McGuire) Butrom. She grew up and attended school in the Fort Ripley area. She married Lowell Kay November 22, 1933 at Fort Ripley. They moved to Backus in 1979 and in Sep. of 2011, Minerva entered the Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Center.
She is survived by her sons, Russell (Angie) of Backus and Ivan of Greenwood, Ind.; 14 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Minerva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lowell; and two sisters, Eva and Zella.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. March 3, 2012 at the Kline Funeral Home in Pine River with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Ponto Lake Cemetery at a later date.
