Ellen M. Strom

Ellen Marie Strom, age 99, of the Brainerd and Hill City, Minn., areas, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at her son’s home in Cohasset, Minn. Ellen was born in July 9, 1912, to Eli and Pearle Calkins in Wataga, Ill. The family moved to the Bay Lake area of Deerwood, Minn., in 1920. Ellen was united in marriage to Arnold Strom on June 27, 1930, in Brainerd, where she lived most of her life. Arnold preceded her in death in 1985.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Arnold; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; six sisters; and one brother.
Ellen is survived by two sons, Kenneth (Garnet) Strom, of Cohasset, Minn., and Darrel (Donna) Strom, of Plainfield, Ind.; two daughters, Eileen (Melvin, deceased) Washburn, of Brainerd, Minn., and Joyce (Gerald) Converse, of Canon City, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 17 at 11 a.m. at Hill City United Methodist Church in Hill City. Burial will be in Hill Lake Cemetery in Hill City, Minn. The Rev. Russell Christensen will officiate.
