STAPLES — David Lee Johnson, age 57, of Staples, Minn., passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at Lakewood Health Systems Care Center in Staples, Minn., with his loving family and friends by his side.
David was born on April 20, 1954, in Bertha, Minn., the son of Carl and Jane (Goff) Johnson.
David lead a great life filled with family and friends
He started working at Elray in Motley while still attending school, then continued his career at Seafest where he worked for over 30 years as a supervisor.
David enjoyed floating the river, pulling pull tabs, Bingo at Lefty’s, riding his motorcycle, using his exercise machines, playing softball and other sports. But most of all he loved spending time with family and friends.
David leaves behind to celebrate his memory: mother, Jane Goff; sisters, Carla (Rudy) Determan, Long Prairie, Minn., Cathy (Hans) Johnson, Pillager, Minn., Geri Mertens, Staples, Minn., Sharon (Dick) Plath, Otsego, Minn.; brother, Ed Johnson, Otsego, Minn.; many nieces and nephews; and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Carl Johnson; and his infant brother, Terry.
The funeral services for David will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Motley Free Methodist Church, Motley, Minn.
Pastor Jim Johnson (long time friend) will be officiating the service.
The family will greet visitors on Saturday at the church one hour prior to the service.
