Andrew W. Fritz, 54, of Grand Forks, N.D., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, in Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.
Andrew “Andy” William Fritz was born Sept. 13, 1957, in Presque Isle, Maine, to Johnnie and Helen “Betty” Elizabeth (Bouchard) Fritz, moving with his family to Grand Forks in 1962. He graduated from Red River High School in 1975, and started his career as a bus boy at the Bonanza in Grand Forks, eventually climbing the ladder to Assistant Manager in Brainerd, Minn. There, he met future wife, Joanne Endres. Andrew and Joanne were soon married on July 2, 1983, in St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd and moved to Grand Forks in September that same year. Graduating from Aaker’s Business College in 1983, Andy was employed with White Seal Sales, keeping his position when they were acquired by McKinnon Co. He also held a part-time job at Engelstad Arena, first as parking attendant, then concession manager, and finally ID checker his last two years.
Andrew was a fan of Sioux basketball and football, and enjoyed county and state fairs and watching the demolition derbies held there. Above all, Andy valued the activities he shared with his wife.
He is survived by his wife Joanne; his son Sean Fritz, Grand Forks, N.D.; his brother, Martin (Chris) Fritz, Woodstock, Ga.; his sister, Teresa Fritz, Escondido, Calif. and many nieces and nephews.
Andy was preceded by his parents and his brother Mark Fritz.
