Gary Glen Stangel, age 66, of Crosby died on Jan. 6, 2011, at his home surrounded by family.
He was born on June 12, 1945, in Crosby to Darrel and Norma (Wolford) Stangel. Gary was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1963 to 1965.
Survivors include special friend of 27 years, Char Andrews; one daughter Kim (Greg) Kayfes of Deerwood; two sons, Conrad (Lisa) Stangel of Ironton and Glen Stangel of Crosby; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Faye (Bruce) Burke of Outing, Carol (Ken) Helmers of Missouri, and JoAnne (Ken) Evenson of Pequot Lakes; two brothers, Richard (Maryetta) Stangel of Emily, and Eugene (Janice) Stangel of
Crosby; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents, and one brother, Darrell “Kidge” Stangel.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby with full military honors given by the Myrin-James American Legion Post 443, Ironton. Friends may call on Friday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby from 4 to 8 p.m. with a sharing of memories service at 7 p.m.
