Arlo ‘John’ Olson

Arlo “John” Olson, age 81, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, in Harlingen, Texas, resident of Brainerd for 47 years. John was born on April 15, 1930, in Blue Earth to Peter and Anna (Christenson) Olson. He married Catherine (Kitty) Thomas on Sept. 26, 1953, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato.

John is survived by wife, Kitty; son, Patrick (Karen Schuety), Brainerd, daughter, Carrie (Mike) Marvin, Pine River, Katie (Mike) Grimm, Maple Grove, Peggy (Jerry) Stone, Clarissa, Sara (Doug) Foran, Brainerd; two brothers, Sherman and Kenneth; six sisters, Mildred, Ruth, Martha, Dorothy, Beverly and Margie; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren;

John owned and operated Crystal Cleaners and Laundromat; he also did maintenance for the college apartments until his retirement.

Proceeded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Rachel Grimm, two brothers and three sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd. Visitation will be held the hour before services at the church. Interment at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to St. Francis Catholic School Foundation.
