Joye M. Berndt

PILLAGER — Joye Marie Berndt, age 84, resident of Riverside Assisted Living in Pillager, died there on Monday, Nov. 28, 2011. Joye was born on Oct. 8, 1927, in Winnebago, Minn., to Otis and Lenora (Hamilton) Jenkins. Joye married Adolph Berndt on Dec. 26, 1945, in Brainerd. To this union three children were born, Steven, Sharon and Sandra Berndt.
Surviving are her son Steven (Doris) Berndt; her daughter, Sharon Joslin; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and an expected great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Sandra; grandson, Steven; her parents; and her brothers and sisters.
She enjoyed art (painting), quilting, crafts and her wonderful grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Pillager with Pastor Paul Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery in Pillager. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd and will continue the hour before services at the church on Friday.
