Cecilia Viola Bimler, age 88, passed away at her home on Nov. 1, 2011. Cecilia was born March 1, 1923, on her family’s farm in Loma, N.D. She was one of 17 children. Cecilia married Robert Bimler of Munich, N.D., Oct. 29, 1946. Together they raised eight children, five boys and three girls. Cecilia was an excellent homemaker, enjoying many activities such as sewing, needlework, crocheting, arts and crafts and baking. Her pride and joy was her family who loved her dearly and by whom she will be sadly missed. During World War II, Cecilia traveled to Los Angeles and became one of the many “Rosie the Riveters.” Her favorite pastime was playing cards.
Cecilia is survived by sons, Dale (Patty), Great Falls, Mont., Allen (Pam), Great Falls, Mont., Loren (Karen), Littleton, Colo., Joanne (Tom) Taylor, of Missoula, Mont., Janie (Bob) Weston, Brainerd, Minn., and Donna (Mick) Rohling, Princeton, Minn., 14 grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Lorraine Rudow, Brainerd; and brother, Tom (Mary) Mann, Langdon, N.D.
Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents; 14 brothers and sisters; her husband, Robert; sons, Rodney and Larry; and her granddaughter, Jessica.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Church in Brainerd. Friends and family may call one hour before the service. Burial will at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
