James A. Caughey, 54, formerly of Brainerd, passed away Sept. 27, 2011, at his home in Vero Beach, Fla. He was born Nov. 1, 1956, in Fort Pierce, Fla., to Howard and Carol (Decker) Caughey.
He is survived by his parents, Howard of Merrifield and Carol Decker of Vero Beach, Fla.; children, Leah Caughey of Brainerd, Kristin Caughey of North Miami, Fla., James and Cody both of Brainerd and Roxanne Packard of St. Cloud; “friend,” Loreen Caughey of Merrifield; brother, Michael Decker of Wabasso, Fla.; sisters, Lisa Decker of Marlborough, Mass., Brenda Decker of Vero Beach, Fla., Trisha Mayer of Winter Beach, Fla., and Phyllis Coleman of Vero Beach, Fla.
James is preceded in death by a brother, Gene Decker.
He worked the oil fields, tree work, carpentry and devoted the last part of his life to artistry.
A celebration of James’ life will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at Halvorson Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation is Friday from 12-1 p.m. at the funeral home. A luncheon will follow.
Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd.
