Byron “Andy” Grande, 84, of Crosslake, died Thursday, August 18, 2011, at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis. A memorial service is planned for 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 23 at Crosslake Lutheran Church with Pastor Larry Quanbeck officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to services. Interment with military honors provided by the Crosslake American Legion, Post No. 500 will be held at Pinewood Cemetery. Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew “Bud” and Esther (Bengston) Grande. He will be missed by his loving wife, Carol; daughter, Barbara Rasmussen; and grandson, Joel. Andy was born in 1927. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during WWII. He was a past commander of the American Legion Post No. 500 in Crosslake/Fifty Lakes, as well as a member of the VFW in Jenkins and Crosslake Lutheran Church. Andy was able to enjoy 29 years of retirement during which he liked to fish, hunt and golf. The family would prefer memorials be sent to the American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.
