William Herron

William Herron, age 84, resident of Brainerd, died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at Good Samaritan Society-Bethany. He was born in Brainerd Sept. 9, 1926, to Raymond and Katherine (Remmels) Herron.

Mr. Herron served in the U.S. Army Merchant Marines during World War II. He was a member of the Crosslake American Legion. He spent most of his work life in the yard crew at Potlatch. Bill was an avid fan of Golden Gloves Boxing.

He very much loved his grandkids, great-grandkids and all of his family.

Survivors include his daughter, Teresa (Leon) Grams; son, Mark (Jill) Herron; daughter-in-law, Jane Herron; brother, John (Gail) Herron; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; and many other extended family members.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Selma; son, Jim; and brother, Tom.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Brainerd. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd with parish prayers at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church Saturday the hour before services. Burial will be in Lake Edward Cemetery.
