Robert “Bob” Schiller, age 84, resident of Brainerd, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, at St. Cloud Hospital. He was born March 26, 1927, in Minneapolis. Bob attended School District 69 and high school in Silver Lake, Minn. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 at the age of 17, and was stationed in San Diego.
He worked as a technician for the MN DNR Fisheries for 39 1/2 years at Glenwood, Lanesboro, Paynesville, Hutchinson, Big Stone and Brainerd.
He married Marlys Picha on June 17, 1973, in Crosslake. Bob enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycling, gardening, polka music, deer hunting and camping in Montana and Minnesota. He played guitar and accordion by ear.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cliff and Dora Soucie.
He is survived by his wife, Marlys Schiller; daughters, Kim (Jack) Graf, Lori Radoush and Jodi Radoush; granddaughter, Krystal Graf.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd with Pastor Ben Peterson officiating.
Burial will be at MN State Veterans Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post No. 255 Color Guard.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and the hour before services Thursday at the funeral home.
