SAN ANTONIO — Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Benton Cemetery in Sauk Rapids for Joyce Carol Walker Tinseth, 75, of San Antonio, Texas, who went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Dec. 23, 2010, after a brave battle with heart disease. Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Born at home in Popple Creek, Minn., on Dec. 31, 1934, to Leon and Mildred (Lanz) Walker, she liked to say the whole world celebrated her birthday with her every New Year’s Eve. On Feb. 23, 1952, Joyce married the love of her life, Warren Dale Tinseth, who affectionately called her “J.C.” As a military wife, she held down the home front while Warren served as a Chief Warrant Officer Aviator in Korea and Vietnam. Together they raised three children and created many fond memories in Colorado, Washington, California, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Alabama, Texas, and Germany before settling down and retiring in San Antonio, Texas. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, pampering her dogs, tending her roses, feeding hummingbirds and traveling home to Minnesota as often as she could. She was proud of her Polish heritage and fiercely loyal to her family.
Joyce is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 59 years, Warren Tinseth Sr.; three children, daughter, Glenda (Gerald) Vancil, of Killeen, Texas; son, Warren “J.R.” (Diane) Tinseth, of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Julie Tinseth, of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren, Jen Sansbury, Jessica Weese-White and Emily Tinseth; and two great-grandchildren; brother, Leon H. Walker, of Brainerd, Minn.; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Melvin, George and Richard.
