Daniel S. Davis, 66, passed away May 1, 2011, in Brainerd, Minn. He was born Feb. 17, 1945, in Brainerd, Minn., to Perry and Anna Mae (Cofield) Davis. Daniel was married to Mary C. Davis.
Dan was a sergeant in the Air Force. He worked at Potlatch as a machinist for 33 years retiring to become a snowbird wintering in Ajo, Ariz., near a small airport. He was a life member and past Commander of the VFW Post No. 1647 and Elks member of Lodge No. 1576 in Ajo, Ariz. Dan bought and farmed the family farm and other farms for 30 years with cow calf operation. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, flying, farming and enjoying family and friends. His favorite music was southern gospel. He will be remembered as a loving Christian, husband, father and a friend to many.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Ken Davis, of Oregon, Wis., and Shane Davis, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; step-sons Dale and Kevin; granddaughters, Josie and Chloe; step- grandchildren, Tyler, Angela, Amber, Kevin, Jr., Alexa and Aiyisha; brothers, Ron, Larry and Wayne.
Daniel is preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be Wednesday, May 4, 2011, 11 a.m. at New Beginnings Bible Church in Brainerd. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church. Lunch will be served at the VFW following the service. Interment will be at the Minnesota State Cemetery in Little Falls, Minn. Donations can be made to VFW Post No. 1647, Brainerd.
