Eva Minerva Young, 87, of Brainerd was promoted to glory Monday, March 28, 2011. She was born Aug. 10, 1923, in Brainerd to Frederick and Pansy (Holsapple) Kraklau. She married Ellsworth Young.
Eva was secretary and treasurer at the Salvation Army for 34 years and treasurer of the Crow Wing Township board. She was secretary of the I.O.O.F. Rebekah Lodge No. 111 of Brainerd, a past Noble Grand, past District Deputy President and past District President. Eva owned her own restaurant — Eva’s Cafe — for eight years and ran the Golden Grill.
Survivors include her sons, Scott (Shirley) Young, of Nisswa, Byron (Judy) Young, of Aitkin, Will (Karleen) Young, of Brainerd; and daughter, Marie (Randy) Nelson, of Brooklyn Center; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Ellsworth; parents; sons, Gerald, Robert; sisters, Otelia, Doris, Alice, Ivy, Dorothy, Lorna, Flora; brothers, Clifford, Leonard, Raymond and Ashley.
Services will be Friday, April 1, 2011, at noon at Halvorson-Johnson Funeral & Cremation Care, Brainerd. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery.
