Roger Lee Twombly, 65, of Brainerd, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Bethany Good Samaritan Village. A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Pastor Dave Holte officiating. Family and friends are welcome to gather one hour prior to services. Roger’s remains will be made part of the Trinity Lutheran Scattering Garden following the service.
Roger was born July 6, 1945, in Glencoe, Minn., the son of Orvis and Betty (Peschken) Twombly. At an early age, Roger and his family moved to the Brainerd lakes area. Following his graduation from Brainerd High School, Roger attended and received his teaching degree from the University of Minnesota. He spent his career teaching math to the students of South St. Paul High School. Following his retirement, Roger returned to Brainerd where enjoyed taking care of his lake home property. He also liked to play cards.
Roger will be missed by his father, Orvis, of Brainerd; his sister, Jane (Wayne) Trahms, of Rochester; his brothers, David (Char) Twombly, of Crivitz, Wis., and Donald (Jolene) Twombly, of Maplewood; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mom, Betty.
