Theodora J. Clark, age 91, resident of Brainerd, and formerly of Belgrade and Brooten, died peacefully on Saturday morning, Jan. 29, 2011, at Essential Health’s St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd.
Teddy was born on Jan. 7, 1920, in Tracy, Minn., to Guy and Martha Salsman. She graduated from St. Cloud Teachers’ College. She married Victor Clark on June 27, 1944, at the March Field Chapel in California.
She enjoyed a long teaching career in Brooten and, in retirement, was an active community member. She volunteered at her church, tutored students, and directed community theater. She had a special place in her heart for those in need and was instrumental in starting the Brooten-Belgrade food shelf. She enjoyed reading, working word puzzles, knitting, watching the Twins and spending time with her family.
Teddy is survived by her children, Karen (Robert) Ogdahl, of Baxter, and Paul (Terri) Clark, of Grand Forks, N.D.; six grandchildren, Lisa (Josh) Christianson, Tricia (Jim) Sladky, Anne (Steve) Deplazes, Greg Clark, Nathan (Carroll Beauvais) Ogdahl and Megan (Jason) Ogdahl; and eight great-grandchildren, Will, Lauren and Drew Christianson, James, Ethan, Kendra and Kate Sladky and Clark Deplazes.
Her parents; and her husband, Victor; preceded her in death.
Services will be Friday, Feb. 4, at noon, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Brainerd with Pastor Deborah Celley and Lay Pastor Kathy Terpstra officiating. Burial will be at Union Cemetery in Brooten. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
Memorials are preferred to the Salvation Army Food Shelf.
