Robert E. Grant

BAXTER - Robert E. Grant, age 95, resident of Baxter, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2010, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.

He was born April 2, 1915, in Staples, Minn., to Elmer and Selma (Swanson) Grant. Bob was a devoted husband of 54 years to the late Betty (Smoldt) whom he married on Sept. 17, 1949, at her mother's home. Robert's lifetime work was with the BN Railroad Car Shops. He was a 50 year member of the Moose.

Survivors include his brother, LeRoy Grant; three sisters, Dorothy Borle, Betty Gillespie and Pricilla Gillespie; many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty; sister, Emma Johnson; and brothers, Harry and Gerald.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Reverend Andy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Brainerd. A visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to services at the church.
