LITTLE FALLS - Theresia Catherine (Tschida) Selinger, age 81, of St. Otto's Care Center, formerly of Swan River Township, Minn., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, surrounded by her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Theresia will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, Minn., with Father Leo Moenkedick officiating. Burial will be at St. Stanislaus' Parish Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, Minn. Parish prayer service will be at 5 p.m. Monday.
Theresia Catherine Tschida was born on Dec. 12, 1928, to John and Mary (Stangl) Tschida, in Buh Township, Minn. Before her marriage, Theresia worked at Munsinger in Little Falls. She was united in marriage to Wilfrid Joseph Selinger on Aug. 30, 1949, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz, Minn. Theresia and Wilfrid farmed and raised their family in Swan River Township until Wilfrid's death in 1996. Theresia was known for her beautiful flower gardens and had a special touch with African violets. Theresia enjoyed baking and making crafts for her friends and family. She was a charter member of the Swan River Mothers Club and was also active in TOPS. After Wilfrid's death she moved to Little Falls where she enjoyed visits from her friends and family particularly her grandchildren. Theresia moved to St. Otto's in 2008 and resided there at the time of her death.
Theresia is survived by sons Art (Diane) Selinger and Arnie (Janet) Selinger, Little Falls, Minn.; daughters Diane (Ed) Lintner, Ramsey, Minn., Elaine Selinger, St. Cloud, Minn., Brenda (Greg) Smedberg, Plymouth, Minn., and Amy (Kirby) Veillette, Little Falls, Minn.; grandchildren Jason, Anthony, Katy, Becky, Gabe, Adam, Bailey, Alex and Rachel; and six great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfrid, in 1996; her brothers Conrad, Leonard and Herman Tschida; and her grandson, Michael.
Casketbearers will be Jason and Anthony Lintner, Gabe Selinger, Alex Veillette, JP Kramer and Jesse Larson. Honorary Casketbearers will be the Swan River Mothers Club members.
