Gerald "Jerry" Stegora

Gerald "Jerry" Stegora, age 82, died peacefully in Merrifield, Minnesota on August 3, 2018. Jerry is survived by beloved wife Marlene Stegora, children, Phil Stegora (Jean McCreight), Debbie (Charlie) Lance, Kay (Tony) Powell, Pam (Joe) Axberg, Steve (Terri) Stegora, Amy (Todd) Stegora-Peterson, Becky (Jerry) Couet, Dan (Michelle) Hartung, Tina (Steve) Lehman and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by beloved first wife Betty (DeRosier) Stegora. Jerry was born on October 10, 1935 on the farm in Morrison County. You could never take the farm out of him. He loved to drive his John Deere 2520 tractor. He maintained a large garden wherever he lived filled with vegetables, roses and citrus fruit. Farm life also taught him how to fix everything. He kept a garage and workshop full of tools to fix everything. Everything could be fixed. And if you needed to fix something he had advice for you. With the deepest concern for you, he was always willing to share his advice, including the most economical approach. He put these skills to use as an autobody mechanic for UPS for over 28 years. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed time hunting, tinkering, prospecting, and spending time with his family and friends. He loved people and built continuous and deep relationships with so many. He always reminded us to "stop and smell the roses." All are welcome to smell the roses at his Celebration of Life on Sunday, August 19 at 1:00 pm at Eagles Aerie, 124 Front Street, Brainerd, followed by a luncheon and ice cream social. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Dunwoody College or Mid Minnesota's Women's Center. Arrangements are with Nelson-Doran Funeral Home.
