Clistia A. Owen
STAPLES — Clistia A. Owen, age 86, of Staples, passed away at the Lakewood Health System Hospital on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 1 p.m., at the Motley Untied Methodist Church, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.
Clistia was born on Sept. 30, 1925, to Roy and Macie (Carlock) Parker, in Paynesville, Minn. She grew up there, graduating from the eighth grade. On July 22, 1942, she was united in marriage to John Owen, and together they raised 10 children. Clistia enjoyed plastic canvas, dancing, fishing and going for rides. She loved helping her son deliver newspapers and spending time with her family.
Clistia is survived by her children, William (Marsha) of Staples, Betty (Dave) Lindblom of Verndale, Steven (Arlene) of Staples, Daniel (Linda) of Staples, Michael (Mary) of Nimrod, John (Linda) of Browerville, Lorna (Russ) Ash of Aldrich, Bruce of Eagle Bend and Gloria (Jerry) Freese of Staples; 35 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 4 great, great-grandchildren; a sister, Cora Sarff of Minneapolis; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; daughter, Patricia Briscoe; granddaughter Christine Owen; her parents; four brothers; and two sons-in-law.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
