Singer songwriter Faith Boblett will return to the lakes area to perform at Crosby’s Music in the Park from 6-9 p.m. July 26.

Stylistic comparisons to Jewel, Brandi Carlisle and Tracy Chapman, a backing band of seasoned veterans, and a strong work ethic are helping Boblett gain momentum in the highly competitive Minneapolis music scene.

This will be the fourth year Boblett has performed in Crosby, but she is not a stranger to the local scene. She performed three years at the Celebrating Dreams concerts at Tornstrom Auditorium in Brainerd, Music in the Mayberry and other local venues near her family’s home in Outing.

Boblett spent a year and a half at Crosby-Ironton High School before attending the Music Program at Perpich Center for Arts Education in Golden Valley for her junior and senior years.

While at Perpich she focused on composition and music theory as well as honing her performance skills in the school’s ensemble program. Boblett continued living in the Minneapolis area after graduation to attend college, while continuing to perform with friends and former classmates in coffeehouses and all-ages venues.

Currently taking a break in her studies to focus on her music, the past year has found her playing high profile Minneapolis venues, including the Fine Line, 400 Bar and Kitty Kat Club. She also performs regularly in St. Paul at the Wild Tymes, and Acadia in Minneapolis, as part of the Diverse Emerging Music Organization (DEMO) series.

Currently she is working on completing her first full-length release and has enlisted a lineup rich with musical talent and experience. Playing on the record are her father, Paul Boblett, who toured nationally for over 15 years with Sam Iam, Matt Wilson Band and the Minnesota Dance Theater, as well as playing locally with Decade 7, Dirty Bomb, and Six Feet & Risin’.

Drummers Noah Levy (BoDeans, Peter Frampton, Brian Setzer, Five for Fighting) and Peter Anderson (Honeydogs, Allison Scott Band, Polara) have contributed tracks to the project.

The album is being recorded by LittleBig Studios in Cannon Falls, with award winning engineer/producer Brent Sigmeth, whose resume includes Nirvana, Soul Asylum, Wilco, The Bad Plus and Haley Bonar.

Guitarist Jim Gruidl (Boca Ratons, Bloods, Matt Wilson Band), drummers Anderson and Dave Russ (ELNo, Jezebel Jones, Holiday Ranch), and her dad Paul comprise her current live band in the Twin Cities.

“I love coming home to play in Crosby because it was where I played one of my very first shows performing only my own music,” Boblett said. “Coming back allows me to share what I’ve been working on and give people a taste of what’s to come.”

Performing with Faith in Crosby will be longtime friend and drummer Brian Olds of Outing (Dirty Bomb, Cherryfix, Six Feet & Risin’) and Paul Boblett on bass.
