The Brainerd city council met late Friday afternoon in special session and adopted a resolution to join a newly organized northern Minnesota coalition to protest a proposed rate hike of 40 percent being sought by Minnesota Power and Light Co.

Carrying on a relentless drive to ferret out the machine gun gang who robbed the 1st National Bank here several weeks ago, state law officers brought a suspect to the county jail from a western Minnesota town. Bank employees are being asked to identify him.

Charles Courier of Crosby was found guilty yesterday of two charges, one of carrying concealed weapons, and one of assaulting his wife. G.S. Swanson, county attorney, prosecuted the case. Sentence was suspended on Courier’s promise to leave town.
