(Photo) Bob Olson has been a mayor, a grain elevator owner and ran a hardware store. Now he’s co-owner of a country bar in downtown Brainerd. Line dance instructors at Buffalo Run give lessons at free line dancing classes Monday and Tuesday nights.

30 years ago (1983)

C-I guard Greg Selisker, looking in mid-season form, put on a shooting demonstration against Brainerd, scoring 31 points. But the Warriors had better depth, led by Todd Erickson’s 26 points and 16 from Mark Vanek, and won by a score of 67-53.

Homeowners who fight the gasoline shortage by storing gasoline in their homes may be playing with fire – literally. Warnings from Fire Chief Ray Shortridge and the state fire marshal caution against doing so. But if you must, store it away from your home.

A Pine River store night watchman is in St. Joseph’s Hospital suffering from a bullet wound received in an exchange of gunfire in an attempted robbery. He also suffered a blow to the head. A 31-year-old man and 16-year-old stepson are being held by police.

100 years ago (1913)

The county is agitating the question of building a new court house. To offset the cost, and thus the increase in indebtedness, they have the county poor farm. It is rich in minerals. Several bids for a lease have been made. This would pay for the court house and more.
