Iler and Ray Popejoy and Oscar Meyers were arrested when a squad of 15 officers swept down on their farm near here, acting on info from a Wisconsin sheriff. They had stolen 250 gallons of alcohol and had tortured a Wisconsin storekeeper.

At a hearing at the court house, LtCol Charles Potter, district engineer from St. Paul, gave his opinion that he will not support the project to establish a canal connecting Gull, Round and Long Lakes. He said it was too costly and would not benefit the reservoir.
