Recently a number of bicycles have been stolen in north, northeast and south Brainerd. Brainerd police are seeking information and ask citizens to call them with information. Residents are urged to lock their bicycles or secure them in a garage.

A specially-designed rubber stamp for postal cancellation has been designed by local artist Chip Borkenhagen in honor of the Paul Bunyan Festival at BIR. Postmaster Don Rasmussen said there will be an 1800’s vintage post office at the festival using the stamp.

A woman on North Long Lake saw a car and van pull into the Bob Sheflo yard and walk to the lake with flashlights. She called the sheriff. When deputies arrived the men had vanished, but their vehicles were filled with stolen outboards and other stolen items.
60 years ago (1953)
It appears that while progress is good news it will mean changes at Camp Ripley. The five new M47 tanks, replacing the M4s used by the National Guard, are 13 feet wide, so armory doors must be enlarged. And, their 90mm guns will need larger firing ranges.
