Brainerd’s Tim Kidder won his second race in as many tries, taking the Lucky Lindy Invitational at Little Falls with a 5K time of 16:41. The Brainerd boys finished ninth of 15 teams. Jayna Mathieu was the top Warrior girl in 13th with a time of 12:21.

The purpose of the Staples Irrigation Farm is to grow crops with high yields. But yesterday law enforcement officials were harvesting a crop that yields highs. Volunteer marijuana growing in the school district corn field was enough to fill two pickups.

Frank Selisker, who also won the first heat, roared to victory in the feature race of weekly stock car racing at Heywood-Gull Lake airport track. Of the nine cars entered, only three finished – the others being involved in crack-ups, disqualified or running off the track.

C. Bruhn showed the Dispatch some tomatoes raised in his garden at 704 N. 4th Street. The big, luscious fellows – 18 of them – filled a big basket and weighed 18.2 pounds. This is a sure sign a good gardener like Bruhn is cooperating with Minnesota sunshine.
