Champions were to be crowned in 11 categories, including four professional classes, on Sunday at the Champion Auto Nationals at BIR. Instead there were no winners. Inclement weather caused postponement to Monday for the first time in 12 years.

Clean sweeps were scored at North Central Speedway by Tommy Feierabend driving Modifieds, and Tim Grams in Late Model, as they registered wins in heat, trophy dash and feature. Posting his first feature win in Hobby Stock was Scott Lake.

Eight witnesses took the stand as the trial opened on an injunction to prevent a music festival from being held at Donnybrooke on Sept. 2. Being cross-examined at noon was Joe Derosier, chairman of the county planning commission.
60 years ago (1953)
Pete Smotas, Grand View Lodge employee who made off with $13,800 in cash and checks, has returned and is in the county jail. He called his wife from San Francisco and asked her to join him. She said no, so he came back. Lodge owners have forgiven him.
80 years ago (1933)
Two more beaver were added to the colonies at Camp Ripley, making a total of eight on the military reservation. The beaver were trapped north of Motley to help a farmer complaining of flooding. Other wildlife will be liberated at the camp from time to time.
100 years ago (1913)
At Barrows the Barrows mine of the Virginia Ore Co. is shooting out a steady stream of iron ore and all are pleased. Supt. Nichols has the situation in perfect control, piling up ore on the stockpile on one side and pumping water into Buffalo Creek to the north.
