The Brainerd girls’ gymnastics team secured its ninth Central Lakes Conference title in 10 years at the CLC meet at St. Cloud Tech. The Warriors entered the meet at 6-0 and finished second, with their combined total giving them the title by a single point.

Major Glendon Perkins, a POW in North Vietnam for more than six years, will arrive here this afternoon to visit his ill mother in Crosslake. He was reunited with his wife, Kay, this morning at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama.

An 11-year-old boy was awaiting the setting of the fracture of his right leg suffered yesterday while skiing with friends. Striking a bare spot, the skis stopped, catapulting him down the hill. Roy Wicklund was watching the skiing and carried the boy home.

Judge C. A. Allbright has his campaign of letters and telegrams directed on members of the legislature presenting arguments for defeat of the tonnage tax bill well under way. A bombardment of letters is under way to help defeat this tax that would hurt our area.
